Lagos Gears Up for World Food Week: Water, Food, and Life in Focus

Published on

In a groundbreaking collaboration, OfadaBoy and the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture underscore the essence of water in food security during the Global World Food Week celebration.

A Collaborative Feast for Thought

In an innovative stride, Nigeria’s homegrown outdoor catering mogul, OfadaBoy, joins forces with the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, spotlighting the critical interplay of water and food in human survival. This alliance comes as the city prepares to commemorate Global World Food Week, themed “Water is Food, Water is Life.”

Unveiling the Festivities

Set to culminate in the much-anticipated Ofada Rice Day (OFD) Festival in December, the celebration teems with diverse activities. The Ministry’s schedule promises a vibrant mix, including a farmer’s forum, an enlightening road show, a sensitization walk, and a compelling school quiz competition.

Water and Food: A Symbiosis Critical to Existence

“The theme’s relevance strikes at the heart of existence,” asserted Hon. Abisola Olusanya, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture. Highlighting the monumental backing from OfadaBoy and other contributors, Olusanya emphasizes the unmissable synergy that has flourished over five years. “This partnership fortifies each year, setting the stage for an unparalleled Ofada Rice Day. It’s a testament to food’s vital role in life and our indigenous rice’s health benefits,” she remarked.

Driving Home the Message of Sustainability

OfadaBoy’s CEO, Tobi Fletcher, shares in the excitement. “We’re thrilled to heighten awareness around the indispensability of water and food,” Fletcher noted. The company, elated to annually partner with the Lagos State Government, anticipates the Ofada Rice Day’s 5th edition will spur engagement and camaraderie through its entertainment-packed, inclusive atmosphere.
