Lagos Police Intensify Fight Against Kidnappers: Pledge to Crush Escalating Crime Wave

Published on

In the face of a concerning surge in high-profile abductions and violent crimes in Lagos, the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, has declared an all-out war against kidnappers and perpetrators of various violent offenses across the state. The victims, compelled to pay hefty sums in local and foreign currencies for their release, are also warned against making their ordeals public.

Regrettably, the criminal activities have begun spreading to other parts of the state, prompting the police to take decisive action.

Benjamin Hyndeyin, the state police spokesman, affirms the police’s active combat against crime in Lagos, highlighting a monthly decrease in overall criminal activities. While acknowledging reports of a recent increase in specific crimes, Hyndeyin emphasizes the command’s dedication to maintaining Lagos’ status as one of the safest states in the country.

Addressing concerns about declining night patrols, Hyndeyin clarifies that patrol efforts are not diminishing but are contingent on available resources. He assures the public that the police are maximizing their resources and pledges to increase efforts when more patrol vehicles become available.

The Commissioner of Police has taken proactive steps to address the reported kidnappings, convening meetings with Divisional Police Officers, area commanders, and strategic commands. The issue has been thoroughly analyzed, with a specific focus on areas like Okota, where the police are tasked with reducing kidnapping incidents to zero.

Hyndeyin urges Lagosians to trust the police and report any suspicious activities. He emphasizes the commitment of law enforcement to tackling crime and maintaining public safety.

As the police intensify efforts to combat the kidnapping crisis, residents are urged to stay vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. The declaration of a full-scale war against kidnappers underscores the gravity of the situation, and the police are determined to restore and maintain security across the state.
