Southern Kaduna Rocked by Fatal Bandit Attacks

Published on

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, expressed deep concern over the recent brutal attacks by bandits in Southern Kaduna communities, resulting in numerous deaths and abductions. The assaults, which he described as actions of ‘beasts in human skin’, have shaken the state and prompted urgent calls for military intervention.

Former councilor of Dawaki Ward, Aminu Khalid, reported to journalists that the recent terrorist incursions into three local communities—Ungwan Sako, Kunkurai, and Dokan Kaji—led to the tragic loss of 17 lives, with 58 residents feared kidnapped. Despite the villagers’ brave resistance, which saved 20 people, the assaults have left the communities in a state of despair.

Khalid stressed the urgent need for military action, citing the terrorists’ base in the forests of Kajuru and Kachia as the source of ongoing violence. “Only a military raid on the terrorists’ camp can bring peace to these terror-stricken communities,” he stated.

Governor Sani, voicing his anger via social media, condemned the attacks and vowed to pursue justice against the perpetrators. According to a report by The Guardian, He emphasized the state’s commitment to peace and development, declaring that such acts of savagery would not deter these efforts.

In response to the crisis, the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, alongside security forces, is working to contain the threat. The state government has also dispatched agencies to assess damages and provide immediate relief to the victims’ families and affected communities.

The Kaduna-Niger inter-state boundary has been a focal point of discussions as stakeholders from the Bishini area of Kachia LGA met with the Overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, to address the banditry issue.

As the state grapples with the aftermath of these attacks, the government’s response and the call for military action underscore the ongoing challenges of ensuring safety and security in the region.
