Bandits Abduct Kaduna Village Chief’s Family in Night Raid

Published on

In a terrifying incident, bandits attacked Galadimawa Village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting the wife and two children of the village head, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna Galadimawa. The brazen attack took place late at night, leaving the entire community in a state of fear and confusion.

Targeted Attack on Village Leadership

The bandits stormed the residence of the village head around 11:30 p.m., reportedly to kidnap him. According to Hussaini Umar, the Sarkin Fada of Galadimawa, the armed attackers ransacked the entire house, even searching the ceiling, but could not locate their primary target. In their frustration, they abducted the village head’s second wife and his two children instead.

“The bandits were heard asking for the whereabouts of the village head,” Umar recounted. “They came specifically to kidnap him but could not find him. After breaking through the wall and searching the entire house, they took his wife and children.”

This incident has exacerbated the already precarious security situation in Galadimawa, where residents have been living under the constant threat of bandit attacks. The local community, already weary from repeated assaults, has expressed deep concern over their safety.

Growing Insecurity in Galadimawa

The abduction in Galadimawa is just the latest in a series of violent incidents that have plagued the region. The persistent insecurity has forced residents from approximately 20 surrounding villages to seek refuge in Galadimawa, only to find that safety remains elusive. The influx of displaced people has done little to deter the bandits, who continue to terrorize the area with impunity.

“We are appealing to the government to save Galadimawa village from these bandits because we are tired of being kidnapped and attacked every day,” said Umar, reflecting the desperate pleas of a community on the brink. The local police have acknowledged the incident but are yet to release a detailed report.

Urgent Need for Government Intervention

The Galadimawa community’s cries for help underscore the broader security challenges facing Kaduna State and other parts of northern Nigeria. The increasing frequency of kidnappings, particularly targeting local leaders and their families, is a worrying trend that highlights the growing boldness of criminal elements in the region.

Despite the deployment of security forces in various hotspots across Kaduna State, bandits continue to operate with alarming effectiveness. The recent abduction in Galadimawa has reignited calls for a more robust and coordinated response from the government to address the escalating crisis.

As the community grapples with this latest tragedy, the safety of the village head’s abducted family remains uncertain. The attack on Galadimawa serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for a sustainable solution to the insecurity plaguing the region.
