- NNPP leadership touts discipline and strong leadership as reasons for its success.
The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has sharply criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at the NNPP’s seventh National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, Kwankwaso accused the APC, under President Bola Tinubu, of enacting unpopular policies that have worsened poverty and hunger in Nigeria.
Kwankwaso, the former Kano State governor, argued that the APC has also failed to adequately address the country’s security challenges.
According to Vanguard, he described the PDP as a “dead party” due to its internal crisis, emphasizing that the NNPP is growing rapidly as an alternative that can provide the leadership Nigeria needs.
“The APC’s leadership seems detached from the reality of suffering Nigerians, while the PDP is falling apart. Meanwhile, our party, the NNPP, is experiencing unprecedented growth,” Kwankwaso said.
NNPP claims to be only viable leadership option
Kwankwaso reaffirmed the NNPP’s determination to provide leadership that could effectively address the needs of the Nigerian people. He said that the party’s progress is evident, despite challenges faced from both internal and external sources.
“Our success is clear to see, as we continue to expand. When I visited Katsina State to open our state office, I mentioned that the PDP was dead, and now, many who doubted me at the time must agree, given the current state of the party,” he added.
The NNPP leader further criticized the APC’s performance, stating that the party’s approach to issues like security, poverty, and hunger demonstrates its disconnection from the daily struggles of the people.
“They may believe they are doing well, but voters know better,” Kwankwaso asserted.
NNPP leadership confident amidst rival decline
Supporting Kwankwaso’s stance, Engineer Buba Galadima, Chairman of the NNPP’s Board of Trustees, said that people from other parties are flocking to the NNPP. He highlighted the discipline and leadership qualities within the party as key factors in its growth.
“People see the NNPP as the only party growing this fast. We maintain discipline at all levels and follow the rules without deviation. Other parties envy us for our leadership,” Galadima said.
National Chairman of the NNPP, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, also expressed satisfaction with the party’s recent achievements. He mentioned the introduction of a new membership card and emphasized the importance of every member obtaining it to strengthen the party.
Ahmed also touched on the reorganization efforts within the NNPP, such as the dissolution of executive committees in certain states and the institution of caretaker committees (CTCs).
He called on the CTCs to provide strong leadership and encouraged members to remain loyal to the party’s principles and vision.
