  • DAWN Commission is a body that coordinates the region to fight crime and promote economic development.
  • To increase safety for the public we established emergency communication lines.

Oyo and Ogun States Joint Security Commission have assured residents and travelers of adequate security during the yuletide season.

The commitment was made at a security stakeholders’ meeting held at Dominion University, near Ibadan in Oyo State along the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.

Collaborative Security Measures

The Oyo and Ogun State Security Advisers, CP Fatai Owoseni (retd) and AIG Olusola Subair (retd), while speaking on behalf of the commission, stressed the need to review and strengthen security.

The commission pointed to the accomplishment of ongoing efforts to fight crime on shared highways and border areas.

When we have travelled this far in reducing criminal activities along our highways, we have reason to be hopeful. Owoseni added. ‘These roads have been made ready for the yuletide so residents and guests feel comfortable travelling them.’

Governors ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun are credited by the commission for equipping security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, Amotekun Corps and NSCDC.

Peace with regional collaboration

The committee is also in touch with DAWN Commission, as well as other Southwest states to ensure that we have collective safety as a region.

The coordinated approach for crime prevention by Amotekun in the six states offers rapid response.

The security advisers said the Southwest remained safe and would make sure the yuletide period would be free of any security threat.

Better communication and public awareness

Both states have integrated toll free emergency lines like 615 for better responsiveness and real time communication and immediate action.

Security was a collective responsibility, the commission urged residents to report suspicious activities.
