KEY POINTS

  • Labour legislator’s event to promote collaboration attended by Nwifuru.
  • Hon. Kama distributed empowerment items along the line of inclusivity and fairness.
  • Ebonyi leaders urged that unity should go beyond political lines.

Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, has explained why he attended the maiden empowerment program organized by Labour Party lawmaker, Hon. Nkemkanma Kama.

Nwifuru said this at an inter-party solidarity speech gathering in Ishiagu on Monday, and he explained that governance is more critical than political hostility.

The governor, however, said that ‘Kama was supposed to be my enemy as he belongs to another party, but he turned out to be my friend.’ He said that Kama has always supported his administration, and like any other politics, it should revolve around collaboration in the little interest of the state and country.

It’s politics as collaboration instead of rivalry

Chief amongst the APC leaders present were the state chairman and Nwifuru.

After elections is governance, said Nwifuru. “I tell him that if the door is about to close on him, he should consult and join APC. However, I will fully support my party’s candidate come elections.”

Kama, who represents Ohaoazara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, thanked Nwifuru and other leaders for their support. He was emphatic that the beneficiaries chatting the powerment items (tricycles, motorcycles, grinding machines, sewing machines, hair dryers and knapsacks) were inclusive.

A gesture of inclusivity

The items were distributed fairly and equally, irrespective of one’s political affiliation», Kama said. Receiving the items Mrs. Nnenna Okoroafor, a beneficiary praised the gesture of the lawmaker and asked that leaders continue to support such gestures.

Former Senate President Pius Anyim and Minister of Works Sen. David Umahi were also present at the event, a testament to the bipartisan focus on the state’s development.
