Reforms May Bring Hardship, but Offer Hope Ahead, Says Senator Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu reassured Nigerians that while reforms may cause temporary hardships, they are necessary for long-term prosperity and stability.

Speaking during a gathering in Abiriba, Ohafia LGA, the senator urged citizens to stay patient and optimistic about the future.

A plea for patience as reform storms hit

Acknowledging the economic difficulties Nigerians face, Kalu emphasized the importance of reforms for national growth.

He agreed with the opinion that reforms are accompanied by hardships and said that it is still possible to expect improvements.

“I know people are hungry, and the streets are tough, but give us a few years; things will improve,” he said, adding that prayer and resilience would see the nation through.

According to Punch, Kalu also reiterated the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians through effective governance and reforms. He expressed confidence that the APC will regain dominance in upcoming elections.

Strengthening the APC for future elections

The senator listed other achievements of the party and emphasized that the party would bring its members together across Abia, Anambra and Enugu states.

Kalu received two former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kelvin Jumbo and Ikechi Anya, into the APC and insisted on their contributions to the solidification of the party.

Kalu also stressed the importance of Interpersonal relationship in the delivery of dividends of democracy.

He urged party members to support the new entrants and work collectively toward victory in the 2027 elections.

Building unity for political success

The APC’s State Chairman, Kingsley Ononogbu, and other party leaders praised Kalu’s efforts in fostering unity within the party.

They agreed with past accusations that mistrust had reduced their electoral possibilities, but expressed optimism about the party’s renewed strength.

Ononogbu stated, “Since the last elections, unity has been our top priority, thanks to Senator Kalu’s leadership.”

Leaders of political parties urged their supporters to stand firm and work hard by reminding them that people have goals that should be accomplished together.

They called on them to stay focused on its objectives and to make preparations to succeed in the 2027 elections.
