Alison-Madueke Defended By Human Rights Group

Published on

KEY POINTS

  • Claims linking Alison-Madueke to ‘Diezani loot’ dismissed by HURIWA.
  • Demands to respect rule of law and evidence based allegations.
  • It outlines Alison-Madueke’s role in Nigeria’s energy sector.

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has also lashed out at the ongoing smear campaign against the former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, saying it is a deliberate plot to discredit her without any evidence.

Denying the “Diezani Loot” stories

HURIWA also charged that with Diezani loot, people were linking her to assets and funds she had nothing to do with.

But Alison-Madueke was not named in the group’s litany of recovered funds from the sale of the yacht Galactica, the sole property owned in Britain by oil deal millionaire Kola Aluko.

Upholding rule of law

Alison-Madueke, who has not been convicted of a crime in the UK, where she has been under investigation for almost a decade, was highlighted by the group.

At its conclusion, the organisation encouraged Nigerians to spurn public sensationalism in favour of evidence led justice.
