KEY POINTS

  • Rivers Judiciary refutes all information about Governor Fubara requesting Chief Judge Simon Amadi to take leave.
  • Rivers Judiciary maintains its established vacation schedule has no allowance for additional period of recess leave.
  • The false claims require public attention only to be dismissed and publishers will face legal consequences if they fail to remove the report from circulation.

Reports indicate that Governor Siminialayi Fubara instructed Chief Judge Simon Amadi to depart the nation despite evidence being lacking that State House of Assembly members attempted to remove him from power under Martin Amaewhule’s leadership.

The statement that originated in Port Harcourt through the High Court’s Chief Registrar David Ihua-Maduenyi, Esq. denounced all allegations as untrue and deceptive.

Judiciary denies report

According to the Rivers State Judiciary statement the News Week Electronic Media Channel published a report titled: ‘BREAKING: Rivers State Chief Judge Embarks on One-Year Recess Leave’ on March 5, 2025.

The Rivers State Judiciary rejects the false attack on Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi as the Rivers State Chief Judge while declaring this accusation maliciously misleading and baseless.

Rivers Judiciary denies report and made it clear through its statement that the Chief Judge neither declared nor meant to declare any kind of recess leave because judicial calendars do not have such provisions.

The scheduled breaks for judicial officers during Christmas Vacation and Easter Vacation and Annual Vacation are public knowledge to everyone. The statement indicates the nonexistence of ‘recess leave’ which the report wrongfully suggests.

The statement advised the public to dismiss these untrue statements because false information sought to create troubling disconnections within the state.
