Reps Minority Caucus Condemns Edo Travelers’ Lynching

The House of Representatives minority caucus created a formal statement to condemn in strong terms the Uromi Edo State hunter killings since they demand justice for the victims.

Incident details

A mob misidentified the traveling hunters from Port Harcourt to Kano for kidnappers because of their traditional hunting equipment and carried out a brutal mob killing. The caucus reacted with great distress and sorrow to the disgraceful killings while labeling the incident as cruel and brutal.

Leaders from the PDP stated through Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda that the killings demonstrated deplorable actions and warned about future threats to countrywide peace.

Reps minority call for justice

The minority caucus denounced the attack on northern travelers by order of the law enforcement agencies while stressing that people should avoid revenge justice practice and should raise their concerns through official channels.

The lawmakers made it clear that Nigeria functions under legal governance standards and citizens possess access to law enforcement services for addressing their concerns.

Government action and support

The lawmakers demanded from President Bola Tinubu that security agencies conduct investigations about the killings while seeking justice for the perpetrators. The lawmakers demanded sufficient compensation from the government to be paid to those who lost family members in the incident.
