KEY POINTS

  • The strike of Benue JUSUN officially ends because of beneficial reactions from the state administration.
  • The headquarters of the union has ordered all workers to go back to their duties immediately.
  • The five-month strike began when the state judiciary personnel disagreed about staff welfare.

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Benue State made an official end to its five-month strike order while instructing all staff members to return back to work without delay.

During December 2024, the dispute between the union members and state government caused the strike to start which halted all activities.

JUSUN Benue State Chairman Comr. Aba Terlumun delivered a Tuesday letter that declared their suspension of industrial action. The positive reaction of the Benue State Government towards union requests became the basis for his announcement about ending the strike.

JUSUN suspends strike as a response to government’s efforts

Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria JUSUN through the Executive Council Benue State branch directed by the National Headquarters communicated officially that the running industrial action launched by state union actors on December 6, 2024 had been terminated.

The letter determined that the suspension required implementation because the state government successfully dealt with many issues that workers had raised during the strike.

All employees within the Benue State Judiciary needed to stop striking activities according to this directive and return to work on Wednesday April 23 2025, as JUSUN suspends its five month strike.
