The Bayelsa State Police Command announced that they took into custody a suspect who participated in the 2022 murder of Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha a traditional ruler alongside Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri’s in-law.

The Paramount Ruler of Kalaba community in Yenagoa Local Government Area Ogbolosingha perished together with HRH Kolibo Amabelimo the community development chairman and Samuel Oburo.

Clever Ovo, age 33, currently under police custody stands as the only detained suspect according to Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police Francis Idu who briefed reporters on Monday. Two remaining fugitive suspects are Gideon Atama, 32, and Bethlehem Nwanlia, 49. Perekebi Nwanlia passed away since the attack on Diri’s in-law.

Suspects linked to notorious gang

During police interrogation Ovo confessed to be a member of Endurance Amagbein gang, whose leader escaped from Nigerian Army custody after killing 16 soldiers during 2024 Okuama, Delta State attack.

Security forces arrested suspect Gideon Atama while he was wearing complete military camouflage according to Idu. Police discovered images of high-power rifles along with voice recordings from past operations stored on his phone.

The authorities unveiled the gang’s sabotage of oil facilities and disclosed their main backers by exposing their assault operations.

Marine police stopped the 20-year-old boat captain Daniel Williams near the Igbikiba houseboat security base located in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

Allegedly Williams helped orchestrate the Oando-operated Tebidaba-Brass pipeline vandalism which took place recently. Police obtained evidence showing Williams carried vandalism materials from Endurance Amagbein who authorities have declared wanted.

The suspect was discovered with two filing machines alongside blades, cutters, radios, phones and food supplies while Idu announced the suspect will soon face charges in court.
