KEY POINTS

To improve how police work and make community ties better, the Federal Government opened a smart police station at Katampe in Abuja on Wednesday.

Nigeria Police Trust Fund built the state-of-the-art facility, and it was officially given to the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday. The project is a key achievement in the Federal Government’s drive to promote digital policing and make security more accessible at local levels.

Facility features for smooth and successful work

Nla, who stood in for Minister Ibrahim Gaidam at the event, called the initiative an essential part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda while speaking.

Nla also said that this project exemplifies our commitment to peace, stronger community-police ties, and the goal of making every Nigerian feel safe.
This station stands for much more than just a building. This facility stands for safety, for better protection, and for improved services at the local level.

He asked managers at the new station to keep high standards of professionalism and always respect the rights of every person in the community.

Smart police station, a tech-driven security for safer communities

The latest technology features at this police station include CCTV, fencing around the building, 30-kilowatt solar power, and a water tank, due to a partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency.

Dr. Abdul Sheidu, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, said the Katampe facility is a major change in policing standards. Furthermore Sheidu said the structure is not like a typical police station. “The building combines security, efficiency, and a focus on the community, helping the police meet current law enforcement needs in Nigeria.”

Finally he urged the Inspector General of Police to locate digital policing experts at the new facility to ensure it works at its best.
