  • NEC meeting marks triumph of democracy over political adversity.

  • Governors remain committed to good governance and public service.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have declared they will not bow to intimidation or exclusion tactics allegedly employed by the Federal Government.

At the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held Tuesday in Abuja, the governors said they remained united in their pursuit of good governance and democratic values.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, accused the current administration of creating a hostile political environment through subtle provocations and mounting pressure.

“Despite these challenges, our members remain steadfast and unwavering,” Mohammed said. “There is no form of intimidation or persuasion we have not encountered.”

Mohammed emphasized that PDP’s unity distinguishes it from other parties grappling with internal divisions.

He insisted that no intimidation would derail the PDP’s commitment to serving Nigerians effectively.

Party unity remains strong despite defections and pressure

While acknowledging the wave of defections and political realignments that have affected the PDP, Governor Mohammed stated that the party remains resilient and unbroken.

He said coalition talks and member departures have not fractured the PDP’s core strength.

“Other parties have been fragmented, with factions emerging here and there. But it is undeniable that we stand together as one,” he noted, contrasting PDP’s cohesion with what he described as the disarray in rival parties.

Mohammed pointed to recent strategic meetings in Plateau, Taraba, Oyo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bauchi as evidence of the party’s active engagement and visibility.

PDP governors recommit to good governance and public service

Reaffirming their dedication, the PDP governors pledged to face any criticism or hardship in service to the people.

They expressed readiness to strengthen the party’s productivity through newly formed subcommittees, as discussed during the NEC meeting.

“This 99th NEC meeting is a triumph of democracy and good governance over adversity,” Mohammed stated, praising party leaders for their resilience and strategic direction.

He concluded by emphasizing that no federal exclusion or intimidation could dissuade the PDP governors from their constitutional responsibilities and democratic mission.
