President Bola Tinubu has signed a historic Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) with Brazil. This would make it possible for direct flights to connect Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, with Brazil, South America’s largest economy.

The deal, which was signed during Tinubu’s official state visit to Brasília on Monday, is a big step forward for Nigeria in its quest to build stronger international ties and make the world more connected.

Tinubu signs a new deal with an airline

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was there to see the signing ceremony. Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, and Silvio Costa Filho, Brazil’s Minister of Transport, signed on behalf of their countries.

Officials said the agreement will provide new business, tourist, and investment opportunities, as well as boost diplomatic and cultural ties.

Nigeria Brazil air service agreement will impact businesses

Brazil was happy with the deal, and President Lula talked about how it might lead to more collaboration in aviation, agriculture, and infrastructure. Tinubu is also meeting with top Brazilian politicians and judicial authorities. He is joined by key ministers, such as Finance Minister Wale Edun and Agriculture Minister Abubakar Kyari.
