Key Points

  • Bomadi women back Mutu ahead of 2027 elections.

  • A 1,000-woman march will showcase grassroots unity.

  • Support highlights Mutu’s sustained community projects.

As they get ready for a 1,000-woman march in support of House of Representatives member Nicholas Ebomo Mutu ahead of the general elections in 2027, the women of Delta State’s Bomadi Local Government are gaining political attention.

The group, which came together under the auspices of the Bomadi Women’s Forum, declared over the weekend that it would be spearheading what it called a “historic mobilization” to draw attention to Mutu’s record and to convey a message of solidarity from the riverine communities. According to the leaders of the forum, they see the lawmaker as a calming influence whose lengthy tenure has raised awareness of their area.

Mutu’s grassroots organization gains new vigor

According to a report by Vanguard news, the chairperson of the women’s forum, Mrs. Esther Pere, stressed during a press conference in Bomadi town that the planned march was not only symbolic but also strategic. She stated, “We want to demonstrate that Bomadi women are not passive.” “We are supporting Mutu in large numbers because his projects have a direct impact on our lives.”

She was accompanied by other forum leaders, such as Madam Felicia Owei and Mrs. Grace Okpokpo, who emphasized that Mutu’s track record of delivering classroom blocks and health centers had earned long-lasting trust. Dr. Timi Ebikeme, a lecturer at Delta State University and a local political observer, characterized the action as yet another indication that Mutu’s hold on the Bomadi-Ijaw constituency is still strong in spite of increasing competition.

Community-level organizing is reshaped by the 2027 elections

Women’s organizations are becoming more visible as grassroots mobilization picks up speed throughout Delta State as the 2027 elections draw near. Both local and regional attention is anticipated for the Bomadi march, which is planned to pass through the center of the local government headquarters.

The women’s endorsement, according to political analysts like Chief Godspower Enetimi, may sway voter sentiment in favor of Mutu, especially among first-time voters who are swayed by family and community leaders. Visible protests like the Bomadi march have more impact than mere numbers in a political environment where turnout and loyalty can decide outcomes.

Support from women continues to be essential to Mutu’s approach

The Bomadi Women’s Forum maintains that their support transcends politics and presents it as a commitment to uphold local representation. They contend that Mutu should be encouraged to keep up the good work because he has continuously delivered.

“For us, 2027 is not just another election,” Mrs. Pere stated. “This march will be historic because it is about defending our collective voice.”

As the polls draw near, the women’s demonstration highlights the growing significance of gendered mobilization in Nigerian politics, where endorsements have the power to become pivotal voting blocs.
