Olorogun Oskar Eyovbirere Ibru, a Nigerian businessman and head of the Ibru Organization, has passed away at the age of 67. His family said he died on September 24 after a short illness and called it a time of “deep sorrow.”

Oskar was born in 1958 and was the oldest son of Olorogun Michael Ibru. He turned the Ibru Organization into one of Nigeria’s greatest companies, with interests in frozen fish, aviation, agriculture, media, and oil. His father died in 2016, and he died nine years later.

Keeping the Ibru company going

After studying overseas, Oskar joined the family business in the early 1980s. He worked at The Guardian newspaper before going to work at Emsee Shipping Lines, where he became managing director in 1992. Over the years, he helped the Ibru Organization make smart investments and keep its reputation as a well-known name in Nigerian business.

Important part of Nigeria’s marine industry

Oskar was a leader in shipping and ports outside of his family. From 2006 to 2010, he was the president of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping. He worked to get more people involved in marine trade and infrastructure in Nigeria.

Giving to charity and the arts

Oskar and his wife, Wanda, worked on projects that helped children, music, and heritage. The His Dream! Child Foundation worked to give young people more autonomy. The couple also led projects like the Pathways Botanical Gardens in Delta State.

Honors and memories

Billionaires Africa report says even though he had to deal with financial problems and familial changes, Oskar was seen as a steady hand who sought to maintain the Ibru tradition. After he died, many people paid tribute to him, praising his sense of responsibility, his giving nature, and his commitment to Nigeria’s cultural life. The family will tell you about the funeral plans.
