President Bola Tinubu on Friday arrived in Lagos for a working visit, hours after attending the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The trip further comes ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, which the government says will be marked with modest celebrations. Tinubu will meet private sector leaders and senior officials during his stay in Lagos, his office said in a statement.
Tinubu to inaugurate Wole Soyinka Centre
As part of the independence program, Tinubu will commission the remodelled National Theatre in Lagos, renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts. Furthermore the project is expected to serve as a flagship hub for Nigeria’s creative industry.
Independence week continues in Imo State
The president is scheduled to travel to Imo State on Sept. 30, where he will commission projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma. The visits also highlight Tinubu’s focus on cultural revival and infrastructure rollout in the days leading to the anniversary.
Tinubu says economy has turned around
At the Olubadan coronation earlier on Friday, Tinubu declared that Nigeria’s economy had “turned around” following two years of sweeping reforms. Finally he credited citizens’ patience and sacrifices for the progress, adding that “light at the end of the tunnel” was now visible.
