  • Stakeholders urged to collaborate on fair pricing mechanisms.

  • Stable Jet A1 fuel is vital for Nigeria’s aviation growth.

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to stabilising the supply and pricing of Jet A1 aviation fuel. It aims to achieve this through stronger partnerships with oil marketers and airline operators across the country.

The pledge highlights efforts to build a fair, transparent, and sustainable fuel supply chain. It seeks to support operational stability and strengthen the broader Nigerian economy through consistent policy actions.

Government renews focus on Jet A1 supply

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said the government is prioritising collaboration and policy reforms to make aviation fuel more available, accessible, and affordable.

He was represented by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, at the Gateway Colloquium organised by CITA in partnership with the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in Lagos.

The event, themed “Aviation Fuel Business: The Scenario and the Metaphor,” brought together industry players to discuss solutions to the sector’s recurring fuel challenges.

Keyamo described the colloquium’s theme as both timely and thought-provoking, adding that aviation fuel remains central to Nigeria’s transport and economic systems.

“Aviation fuel sits at the heart of airline operations across the country and globally,” Keyamo stated.

Partnerships to drive affordable aviation fuel

The minister highlighted current challenges including fluctuating prices, supply disruptions, and infrastructure bottlenecks. He said these issues must be addressed to sustain growth and competitiveness in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

He added that the ministry is focused on encouraging structured dialogue among regulators, suppliers, and operators. This will ensure transparency in fuel pricing and distribution across the aviation sector.

“This conversation today is more than an analysis of challenges. It is an opportunity to shape solutions for lasting progress,” Keyamo stated. “I encourage all participants to speak freely and think boldly to help chart a course forward.”

Keyamo reaffirmed that the government’s ongoing energy and aviation reforms aim to reduce operational costs for airlines and industry players, said VANGUARD. He said the reforms are designed to boost investor confidence and strengthen the nation’s logistics framework.

He called on private stakeholders to align their operations with sustainability goals and responsible business practices. According to him, stable Jet A1 supply is essential for maintaining safe, affordable, and efficient flight operations across Nigeria’s airspace.
