  • Kenneth Okonkwo accuses APC of using thugs and police to disrupt ADC events.

  • He says ADC remains strong and ready for 2027 elections.

  • He claims APC fears losing power to rising opposition.

Kenneth Okonkwo, a member of the National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using thugs and security agents to frustrate opposition activities.

He spoke on Arise Television on Monday. The former Labour Party spokesperson said the ruling party had become desperate to weaken the opposition before the next elections.

“The ADC is on fire. The only problem is that the APC is using every means to intimidate and scatter the opposition,” Okonkwo said.

He maintained that the ADC remained active and ready to challenge the APC in the 2027 general elections.

ADC meetings disrupted in several states

Okonkwo, who is also a Nollywood actor, said ADC meetings had been violently attacked in many states.

He blamed the attacks on political thugs and accused security agencies of looking away.

“In Kaduna State, ADC planned a meeting but thugs disrupted it. In Lagos, when Rhodes Vivour wanted to host ADC members, thugs again broke it up under the supervision of security agents,” he said.

He added that the same thing happened in Ekiti State. According to him, the incidents violated the Electoral Act, which requires security agencies to protect all parties during rallies and meetings.

“In Ekiti State, APC again disrupted an ADC meeting. The Electoral Act clearly states that security agencies must protect any political party holding a rally or meeting,” he said.

APC fears defeat, says Okonkwo

Okonkwo described the ruling party as jittery. He said its actions showed fear of losing power in the 2027 elections.

“APC is jittery. ADC will form the next government of Nigeria. We are planning well and will defeat this APC. They are already imploding,” he said.

He also downplayed the recent defections into the ruling party. In his view, such moves would not save the APC from defeat.

“The APC will lose the next election because Nigerians are against them,” Okonkwo said.
