Nigerian Army Honors Late Chief Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, led the Nigerian Army in a special Jumaat prayer service on Friday.

The service commemorated the late former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away on Nov. 5, 2024.

Officers honour lt.-gen. lagbaja legacy with prayers

Speaking at the Mogadishu Cantonment Mosque, Lt.-Gen. Shaibu described Lagbaja as “a patriotic and selfless officer.”

He praised the late general’s contributions to Nigeria’s defence and security architecture.“Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja contributed greatly to the defence of this country,” he said.

The remembrance activities, including church and mosque services, aim to honor Lagbaja and other fallen heroes.

Lt.-gen. lagbaja legacy inspires continued military support

Lt.-Gen. Shaibu called on Nigerians to support the armed forces through prayers and cooperation.

He urged officers and soldiers to embody the late chief’s values of selfless service and exemplary leadership.“All nations depend on their military for defence,” he said, stressing unity and commitment.

The COAS also prayed for comfort and strength for Lagbaja’s family and other families of fallen heroes. The service highlights the Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja legacy and reinforces public respect for the Nigerian Army.
