Key Points

  • The Nigerian military deploys eight patrol vehicles to Gado Nasko Road after Lieutenant A M Yerima allegedly faced an assassination attempt.
  • Unidentified persons in black followed the officer in two unmarked white Hilux vans in the Kubwa area.
  • F C T Police Command denies receiving any report of the alleged assassination attempt or trailing incident.

The Nigerian military deployed personnel and eight patrol vehicles to the Gado Nasko Road area of Kubwa after an alleged trailing incident involving a junior officer on Sunday.

Sources told reporters that a convoy of eight military vehicles began patrolling the Gado Nasko axis around 7 p m.

Therefore, this sudden deployment connects to concerns for the safety of Lieutenant A M Yerima.

The incident reportedly happened around 6 p m. Unidentified persons in two unmarked white Hilux vans, dressed in black, allegedly tailed the officer from the N I P C O Station off the Kubwa Expressway onto Gado Nasko Road.

Consequently, the alleged trailing prompted military authorities to activate security measures in the area. Military sources later confirmed they investigate the alleged trailing.

Police Deny Report

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, however, denied receiving any report of an attempted assassination or trailing of the officer.

S P Josephine Adeh, the Command’s spokesperson, stated the police had no record of such an incident.

She said, “The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.”

Adeh urged the public to “disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.”

She also advised residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the nearest police division.

Notably, the military patrols followed a separate, unrelated social media report. The police recently debunked this report concerning an alleged assassination attempt on a naval officer after a public face off with a government official.
