Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, the Housing Commissioner of the state, affirmed the proposal in a statement on Thursday. The announcement, disseminated by Ganiu Lawal, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Housing Ministry, delineated the parameters of the development and the government’s anticipation that the additional units will facilitate the accommodation of the continuous flood of individuals seeking stable housing in the state.

Akinderu-Fatai stated that the estate, set for opening on Friday, comprises 34 blocks that collectively offer 233 homes. The project was conceived through a collaboration between the Lagos State Government and Urban Shelter Ltd., a private real estate firm that has previously partnered with the state on other residential initiatives. He characterized the program as an element of a wider commitment to provide affordable housing that satisfies the minimum requirements anticipated in a city where demand perpetually exceeds supply.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the new development occupies 3.7 hectares within the established Abraham Adesanya Housing Estate, which is fully equipped with road access, utilities, and community facilities. The broader estate has influenced Lagos’ housing story for over twenty years. It was initially commissioned on January 15, 2001, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his tenure as governor. The property emerged as a premier initiative of the state to illustrate that government-supported residential projects may coexist with private developments in an area of the city seeing ongoing commercial growth.

According to punch, Sanwo-Olu has consistently identified housing delivery as a priority. In October 2025, he inaugurated 420 homes at the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate in Ajah, a project designed to expand supply in accordance with the population boom influencing the state’s coastal districts. The forthcoming inauguration in Abraham Adesanya contributes to that sequence and reinforces the administration’s commitment to finalize the housing projects that have been in development throughout Lagos.
