Defence Minister Promises Quick Security Gains

New Defence Minister Christopher Musa pledged tighter cooperation with security agencies and communities to stabilise the country.

Kwara Monarch Still Held by Bandits

The monarch of Bayagan-Ile in Kwara State, Alhaji Rafiu Salami, remains in captivity after his abduction last Saturday. Confusion has persisted as conflicting reports circulate over his condition.

A community spokesperson confirmed that the monarch is still with the kidnappers. He urged the public to stop spreading unverified claims. The community has shifted its energy to raising ransom.

Local leaders also noted that, apart from a councillor and a few neighbouring monarchs, no senior state officials have visited.

Kidnapped Rivers Students Regain Freedom

Five students abducted from Rivers State University’s satellite campus in Emohua regained their freedom after a coordinated rescue.

Police led the operation at Rumuodogo 2 with support from other security agencies and local residents.

Medical workers checked the students at the hospital soon after. Security teams are now working to track down the kidnappers.

The abduction had sparked fear across the campus and forced a temporary closure of the university.
