The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Habeeb Hamzat, a well-known TikTok influencer known as Peller. A viral video showed him driving dangerously and crashing his car while streaming live.

Police said that the event, which took place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, caused a lot of people to worry and led to quick action. The video, which went viral on social media, showed the influencer driving dangerously, which authorities said put both him and other road users in serious danger.

Abimbola Adebisi, a police spokesperson, said in a statement on Tuesday that the arrest was necessary to protect public safety and make sure that people followed traffic laws.

The police said that the act was very dangerous and could have led to death. The statement said that Peller’s actions were dangerous enough to put innocent lives at risk.

Authorities said that the State Criminal Investigation Department will now look into the case in full. Police said that the results of the investigation would be made public and that the suspect would be charged in court once the investigation is over.

Officials made it clear that the law would be enforced in all cases, no matter how many followers or fans the suspect had on social media.

After the event, Olohundare Jimoh, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, gave a strong warning to social media influencers and content creators not to use online platforms to promote illegal or dangerous behaviour.

Jimoh said that the command would no longer put up with dangerous stunts done for online attention. He also stressed the command’s commitment to following traffic and public safety rules.

The arrest has brought up the discussion about dangerous online challenges and stunts that people do to get attention online. Road traffic accidents are still a big problem in Lagos, and officials often say that speeding, driving while distracted, and ignoring the rules are the main reasons.
