Ogiame Atuwatse III, the traditional ruler of Warri Kingdom, has conferred a chieftaincy title on Oluremi Tinubu, naming her Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom, also known as Ugbọnẹ́, an honour the palace described as symbolising heritage, service, and royal recognition, during a ceremony held in Warri, Delta state.

The event drew several prominent personalities including Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Ifeanyi Okowa, alongside other notable guests who witnessed what the palace described as a historic and dignified royal occasion.

Royal honours and reception

According to a statement released by the palace, first lady Oluremi Tinubu was formally decorated with the title and later received at the palace grounds in a grand reception where she was also invested with the distinguished Royal Order of Iwere honour, marking the occasion as a memorable moment in the history of the Warri Kingdom.

The royal court said the conferment reflected recognition of service and prestige, adding that the honour bestowed on the president’s wife represents a revered distinction within the kingdom’s traditional system and conveys royal appreciation.
