Professor Chukwuma Soludo has officially commenced his second term as Governor of Anambra State, following a swearing-in ceremony held at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

He took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim, marking the continuation of their administration under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The inauguration attracted a host of prominent political figures and dignitaries from across Nigeria. Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

Their presence underscored the political significance of the event and the growing national attention on Anambra State’s leadership.

Judicial Oversight of Oath-Taking Ceremony

The swearing-in was conducted by the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, who administered both the oath of office and the oath of allegiance in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The ceremony formally reaffirmed Soludo’s mandate to govern the state for another term.

Soludo secured his re-election in the November 8, 2025, governorship poll with a commanding victory, polling 422,664 votes. He defeated his closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. The wide margin reflected strong voter support for Soludo’s first-term performance and policy direction.

With his second term now underway, expectations are high for the Soludo administration to consolidate on its previous achievements and address key developmental challenges in Anambra State. Observers anticipate renewed focus on economic growth, infrastructure, and governance reforms as the administration enters a new phase.
