Zamfara Governor Joins Tinubu on Landmark UK Visit to Boost Trade

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, is set to accompany President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady on an official state visit to the United Kingdom scheduled for March 18 to 19, 2026.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the visit is designed to deepen diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the UK, with a strong focus on immigration, trade, investment, and cultural collaboration.

Royal Reception and Diplomatic Engagements at Windsor Castle

During the visit, the Nigerian delegation will be hosted by King Charles at Windsor Castle. Activities will include a special viewing of artefacts from the Royal Collection linked to Nigeria, followed by a State Banquet in honour of the visiting delegation.

President Tinubu is also expected to engage in high-level bilateral talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. These discussions are anticipated to result in the signing of several memoranda of understanding covering areas such as trade, investment, defence, and cultural exchange.

Beyond diplomatic meetings, the President will attend the Nigerian Modernism exhibition as a guest of honour and participate in a business reception involving Nigerian and British investors, as well as diaspora stakeholders.

Governor Lawal’s participation is expected to open up strategic networking opportunities that could translate into increased investment inflows and economic development for Zamfara State.

His spokesperson noted that the visit presents a valuable platform to position the state for global partnerships and economic growth.
