  • Sagagi, loyal to Kwankwasiyya and NNPP, had distanced himself from state government activities since Yusuf returned to APC.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has dismissed his Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industry, Shehu Wada Sagagi, effective immediately.

The commissioner has been directed to hand over the affairs of the ministry to the Director of Commerce until a substantive replacement is appointed.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor expressed gratitude for Sagagi’s contributions during his tenure, noting his efforts in politics, religion, and support for small- and medium-scale enterprises in the state.

The governor emphasized that the decision is part of a strategic realignment of government structures aimed at fostering systematic growth and sustainable development. He also wished Sagagi success in his future endeavors while reassuring the public of his administration’s commitment to efficient service delivery and good governance.

Sagagi, a known ally of former governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, reportedly remained loyal to Kwankwaso and the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), making him the only serving commissioner who did not publicly align with Governor Yusuf’s return to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Since Yusuf’s return, Sagagi had allegedly distanced himself from government activities.

The reshuffle is seen as part of Governor Yusuf’s broader effort to consolidate his administration’s agenda and ensure alignment across all government ministries.
