Former Kano State governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major political shift ahead of future elections.

Kwankwaso registered with the party on Monday and received his membership card at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano, in a ceremony attended by supporters and party stakeholders.

Top political figures attend defection event

The event drew several prominent political figures, including ADC National Chairman and former Senate President David Mark, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Senator Dino Melaye, and former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun.

Kwankwaso announced his resignation from the NNPP on Sunday, explaining that the move was part of a broader strategic political realignment. He also thanked the party’s leadership and members for their support, describing the decision as difficult but necessary.
