President Bola Tinubu has appointed Shu’aibu Aliyu as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

Aliyu replaces Ahmed Aminu, who resigned from the role to pursue the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State. The appointment takes immediate effect, according to a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga described Aliyu as a distinguished academic and administrator with extensive experience in research, education, and institutional leadership, adding that the appointment reflects efforts to strengthen key institutions in the petroleum sector.

Tinubu renews Abdulaziz’s tenure at TCN

The president also renewed the appointment of Sule Abdulaziz as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.

The renewal grants Abdulaziz a second and final term in office following what the Presidency described as a satisfactory performance review of his leadership.

According to the Presidency, Abdulaziz’s tenure recorded improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and ongoing modernisation of the national transmission network.

The statement also noted his contribution to regional electricity integration and strengthening Nigeria’s role in the West African Power Pool through strategic collaboration.

Tinubu said the appointments align with efforts to enhance local capacity, improve service delivery, and drive sustainable growth in the energy and power sectors. He urged both appointees to discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and commitment to national service.
