Muhammad Zuru, Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has died while undergoing medical treatment in Cairo, Egypt.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Murtala Diri in a statement issued on behalf of the Kebbi State House of Assembly. According to the statement, Zuru—popularly known as Lifiddan Zuru—passed away on Monday evening.

The late lawmaker represented the Zuru constituency and was a prominent figure within the Zuru Emirate. His death, the assembly noted, marks a significant loss to his constituents, the legislative body, the political community, and the state at large.

“His death is a significant loss to his constituents, the state’s legislative body, the political community, as well as the state and the country in general,” the statement read. The assembly added that burial arrangements would be announced later by his family and the Kebbi State Government.

Meanwhile, Kabir Tukura, member representing Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba, and Danko-Wasagu federal constituency in the House of Representatives, described the late speaker as an epitome of kindness, generosity, and humility.

Tukura said Zuru’s death was not only a loss to his family but also to the entire people of Kebbi State, particularly residents of Zuru, whom he said the late speaker served with dedication and commitment.

He further condoled with the bereaved family and the people of Kebbi State, describing the late speaker as an obedient son of the soil who contributed meaningfully to the development of his constituency.
