The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congres, APC, has unanimously adopted Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, widely known as Yayi as its consensus candidate for the forthcoming governorship election.

The decision was reached during a high-level caucus meeting held at the party’s secretariat on Abiola Way in Abeokuta. The gathering brought together key stakeholders, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, former governor Olusegun Osoba, and other influential party leaders.

In a bid to foster unity within the party, Governor Abiodun appealed to other governorship aspirants from Ogun West, among them Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Abiodun Akinlade, to step down and support Adeola. His call for consensus paved the way for the senator’s unopposed emergence.

Yayi expresses gratitude to party leaders

Speaking after his adoption, Adeola expressed gratitude to party leaders and members, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him. He assured that he would sustain Ogun State’s current development momentum and uphold its reputation as a leading industrial and economic hub in Nigeria.

“I will not let Ogun State and our great party down,” Adeola declared, emphasizing his commitment to continuity, unity, and progress. He also urged party members to remain united and work collectively towards achieving electoral victory.

The consensus arrangement is widely seen as a strategic move to strengthen party cohesion ahead of the election, with expectations high that Adeola will lead the APC into a strong contest at the polls.
