The Plateau State Government has announced a further relaxation of the curfew imposed on Jos North Local Government Area, citing noticeable improvements in the security situation.

According to the new directive, residents are now required to observe a curfew from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily, beginning Wednesday, April 15, 2026. This marks another step toward restoring normalcy after recent disturbances in the area.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, disclosed that the adjustment followed a thorough review conducted in collaboration with security agencies.

She explained that the decision reflects growing confidence among authorities that the situation has stabilized sufficiently to allow for extended movement during the day, while still maintaining precautionary restrictions at night.

Government Commends Residents’ Cooperation

The state government praised residents of Jos North for their compliance and cooperation during the period of unrest, noting that their collective efforts have significantly contributed to the improved security conditions.

Authorities urged citizens to continue demonstrating restraint and peaceful conduct as efforts intensify to fully restore normal life across the region.

Despite the relaxation, the government emphasized the need for continued vigilance. Residents were encouraged to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to relevant security agencies.

Officials reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring that proactive measures remain in place to sustain peace not only in Jos North but across Plateau State.

The gradual easing of restrictions signals a positive shift in the security landscape of the state. However, the government maintained that adjustments would continue to be guided by ongoing assessments to ensure lasting stability.
