The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out targeted airstrikes on terrorist positions in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest, killing several fighters and destroying their hideouts.
The operation was executed by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on Monday, following confirmed intelligence reports.
According to NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes were based on credible intelligence backed by surveillance operations.
He explained that terrorist elements were identified within fortified structures and bunkers, which were then hit with precision-guided munitions. The strikes destroyed the facilities and eliminated key logistics hubs used by the terrorist.
A post-strike assessment confirmed significant damage to the targets and the neutralisation of multiple fighters.
Military Sustains Pressure on Terror Groups
Ejodame noted that ongoing air operations in the North-East have continued to weaken terrorist networks, forcing them into disorganised and reactive movements.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to maintaining relentless operations until terrorist groups are completely neutralised.
He added that the military would continue to prioritise the safety of civilians while intensifying attacks on insurgent positions.
