At least 29 people have been killed after suspected terrorists attacked Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to local officials and community leaders, the attackers stormed the village late Sunday night, firing sporadically for hours, killing residents and destroying homes and property.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri confirmed the death toll during a visit to the affected community. He described the attack as “tragic and unacceptable,” while expressing condolences to the victims’ families.

Fintiri assured residents that security operations are being intensified to restore peace and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Recurring Violence in Adamawa

The attack adds to a series of violent incidents in the state, which has faced persistent threats from Boko Haram and other armed groups for over a decade.

In a similar incident earlier this year, more than 24 people were killed in an attack on Kirchinga village in Madagali LGA.

Amnesty International has condemned the latest killings, urging authorities to do more to protect civilians and hold those responsible accountable.
