KEY POINTS

  • Social media critic Justice Mark Chidiebere went missing in Abuja after attending a meeting.
  • His disappearance followed recent criticism of security agencies, raising fears of abduction or detention.
  • Activists and supporters are demanding urgent investigation and accountability from authorities.

The whereabouts of social media commentator and government critic Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, remain unknown after he reportedly disappeared in Abuja on April 28, 2026.

According to family members, Chidiebere left home for a meeting after receiving a phone call but has not been seen or heard from since. His mobile phones have been switched off, raising fears about his safety.

Sources say Chidiebere had earlier made routine family arrangements, including asking a friend to pick up his children from school, suggesting he intended to return shortly.

Unconfirmed reports from social media users indicate his last traced location was near the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) complex in Asokoro, though this has not been independently verified.

His sudden disappearance has left relatives and associates scrambling for answers, with his wife reportedly contacting close friends to trace his movements.

Supporters have expressed concern that his disappearance may be linked to his recent criticism of security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force.

Chidiebere had recently spoken out on alleged human rights violations, including the controversial killing of a National Youth Service Corps member in Abuja.

As of the time of reporting, no security agency has confirmed his arrest or detention, and no ransom demand has been made.

Activists Demand Immediate Action

Human rights advocates and supporters have called on authorities, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), to urgently investigate his disappearance.

Activist Peter Akah confirmed that a complaint has been lodged with the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, which has reportedly begun efforts to locate Chidiebere.

Supporters insist that if he is in official custody, authorities should disclose his status and ensure his immediate release.

Chidiebere’s disappearance has triggered broader concerns about the safety of outspoken citizens and critics in Nigeria.

Supporters argue that expressing dissent or demanding accountability should not expose individuals to threats, intimidation, or disappearance.

Authorities, including the police, military, and DSS, have yet to issue an official statement clarifying his whereabouts.
