KEY POINTS

  • Murtala Sule Garo has been confirmed and is set to be sworn in as Deputy Governor of Kano State.
  • His appointment follows the resignation of Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo and subsequent legislative approval.
  • Lawmakers expressed confidence in his ability to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and drive development in the state.

The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State following a thorough legislative process.

His confirmation came after lawmakers reviewed and adopted the report of an ad hoc committee that screened his nomination, paving the way for his formal inauguration into office.

Arrangements have been finalised for Garo to take the oath of office at the Coronation Hall of the Government House in Kano, with Abba Kabir Yusuf expected to preside over the ceremony.

According to official communication from the governor’s media aide, the event is scheduled to hold in the morning, marking a significant transition in the state’s executive leadership.

Nomination Follows Resignation of Former Deputy

Garo’s emergence follows the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, which created a vacancy in the state’s executive structure. In line with constitutional provisions, the governor nominated Garo as a replacement, triggering the legislative screening and confirmation process required to fill the position.

Following his confirmation, the Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the executive arm under Abba Kabir Yusuf to promote accountability, effective governance, and overall development in the state. The endorsement reflects a broader intention to ensure continuity and stability within the government despite the leadership change.
