Former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Ahmed Galadima, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Adamawa State.

The primary election result was announced on Friday in Yola by the chairman of the APC governorship primary election committee, Innocent Bariko. According to him, Galadima secured a total of 414,444 votes to defeat other contenders in the race.

Member of the House of Representatives, Abdulrazak Namdas, finished second in the exercise after polling 86,004 votes, while Abdulrahman Haske came third with 65,424 votes.

Galadima’s victory followed a major political boost on Thursday when Salihu Mustapha, the immediate past APC North-East Vice Chairman, stepped down from the contest and declared his support for him ahead of the primary.

Galadima’s Academic, Professional Background

Ahmed Galadima, 62, studied Agriculture at the University of Ibadan, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1988. He later earned a master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the same institution in 1998.

He previously served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, a role that elevated his profile within the party and public service circles.

The conclusion of the Adamawa APC governorship primary adds to the growing wave of party primaries taking place across Nigeria as political parties begin positioning for the 2027 general elections.

Party stakeholders and supporters are now expected to rally behind Galadima as the APC prepares for the governorship contest in the state.
