The family of Mr. Oyedokun Michael Olugbade, one of the teachers abducted by suspected terrorists in Oyo State, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to personally intervene following the gruesome killing of the educator.

The appeal comes after Olugbade was reportedly murdered and beheaded by his captors after he was abducted alongside others from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026.

The deceased teacher’s family, through their lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, urged the President to visit the bereaved family, intensify efforts to recover Olugbade’s remains, and ensure the rescue of other victims still being held captive.

Lawyer Describes Killing as Inhumane

In a petition dated May 25, 2026, and addressed to the President through the Chief of Staff, Adeyanju described the late teacher as a peaceful and dedicated professional whose life was brutally cut short.

According to the petition, the family remains devastated by the horrifying circumstances surrounding his death, especially as his body has yet to be recovered for burial rites.

The lawyer said Olugbade’s wife and two sons have been left traumatised by the tragedy.

“We write to formally bring to the attention of Your Excellency the tragic kidnapping, brutal murder, and beheading of Late Mr. Oyedokun Michael Olugbade,” the petition stated.

The lawyer added that the teacher was known as a hardworking and peace-loving individual who served his community diligently before the attack.

The petition further revealed that several people abducted during the same attack are still being held by the terrorists under dangerous and life-threatening conditions.

Adeyanju appealed to the Federal Government to urgently direct security and intelligence agencies to intensify rescue operations and secure the release of the remaining abductees.

He also called for immediate efforts to recover Olugbade’s remains so the family could conduct a dignified burial.
