  • Ireland opens 2026 Fellows Programme applications for Nigerians on June 29.
  • The fully funded Master’s covers tuition, allowances, flights, visas and health insurance.
  • Applicants need a Bachelor’s degree at Second Class Lower and three years’ experience.

The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced that applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme will open on June 29, offering Nigerians the chance to study for a fully funded Master’s degree in Ireland. The embassy disclosed this in a post on its X handle.

A fully funded path to study abroad

According to the embassy, the programme targets early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana who want to pursue a one-year Master’s degree at top Irish universities. “Applications for the Ireland Fellows Programme opens on 29 June 2026! Apply for the opportunity to study in Ireland on a fully funded master’s scholarship,” the embassy stated.

Moreover, it said applicants from both countries can find details about the programme and the application process through the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal. The scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly allowance, accommodation stipends, flight and visa costs, as well as health insurance.

Who can apply for the Ireland Fellows Programme

The embassy set clear eligibility rules. According to the details released, applicants must be resident nationals of Nigeria or Ghana, hold at least a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower, and have at least three years of relevant work experience.

Furthermore, the programme includes a dedicated track for Nigerian applicants. The Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights focuses on Master’s programmes in Law, Human Rights and Governance, which gives professionals in those fields a targeted route into the scheme.

Consequently, interested candidates should prepare to act within a tight window. Applications open on June 29, 2026, and close on July 26, 2026, and applicants must submit through the Ireland Fellows Programme website. Ultimately, the embassy framed the programme as an opportunity for ambitious professionals to gain a globally recognized qualification at no cost, while it deepens education ties between Ireland and Nigeria. By covering the full cost of study and travel, the scheme removes the financial barriers that often keep talented Nigerians from pursuing postgraduate study abroad, and it offers a clear, time-bound path for those ready to apply.
