Nigerian Army troops have stopped a planned attack by suspected terrorists in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation was carried out by troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army after security personnel received information about the movement of suspected terrorists in the area in Katsina.

According to security sources cited by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the incident happened on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

The troops reportedly received a distress call at about 11:20am after suspected terrorists were seen gathering around Kaddanya village in Charanchi LGA of Katsina.

Following the alert, troops from the Forward Operating Base in Radda quickly moved towards the area to prevent the suspected attackers from carrying out their plan.

The quick response helped security forces disrupt the planned attack before the suspected terrorists could cause harm to residents or property.

Police and community watch group join operation

The Nigerian Army troops were supported by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force from Kankia and Charanchi, Katsina.

Members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps also joined the operation.

The combined security team moved into the area and worked to prevent the suspected terrorists from gaining access to the community.
