Katsina United have dismissed reports that their player, Chinedu Ozor, regained consciousness after being pronounced dead following his collapse during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes in Katsina.

The club said on Wednesday that the reports were false, explaining that Ozor collapsed during the match at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium and later died despite efforts to save him.

According to Katsina United, confusion over the player’s condition arose after Ozor’s family, shocked by the incident and hoping for a different outcome, requested additional medical confirmation before his body was taken to the mortuary.

The club stressed that the family’s request for further confirmation should not be interpreted as proof that the player had survived. Katsina United said Ozor did not regain consciousness and had died following the incident.
