Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The FCT Administration announced the directive on Wednesday, saying the secretariat had continued operating after the committee completed its assignment to deal with issues arising from its activities.
Wike has also approved the creation of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to take over all matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory.
The new division will assume the responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved ad-hoc committee, providing a new administrative structure for members of the public seeking information or assistance concerning government house sales.
With the secretariat now formally closed, the FCT Administration has directed members of the public to approach the Department of Land Administration for matters concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses.
The move effectively ends the operations of both the former committee’s secretariat and its role as a point of contact for housing sales-related issues.
FCT warns against fraudsters
The administration also warned residents to be cautious of individuals who may attempt to exploit the dissolution of the committee by falsely presenting themselves as officials or members of the former secretariat.
It urged members of the public to avoid dealing with anyone claiming to represent the defunct committee or its secretariat, stressing that the structures no longer exist.
The warning is aimed at preventing fraudulent transactions and protecting members of the public from individuals who may use the former committee’s name to solicit money or offer unofficial assistance.
