  • The couple had planned to marry in March, just days before the murder.

  • The police have launched a manhunt for Nnamdi, who remains at large.

A man, identified as Wealth Nnamdi, fled after allegedly killing his pregnant fiancée, Osasu Isaac, and her daughter, Miracle, following a violent disagreement in Benin, Edo State.

The tragic event occurred on March 16, 2025, in the Idiangbona Street area of Ovbiogoe Community.

Nnamdi, who had been living with Osasu and her daughter, reportedly had a heated argument with his fiancée, which led to the brutal killings.

Disagreement leads to tragic deaths

The couple had planned their wedding for the end of the month. Osasu, a petty trader, was pregnant with Nnamdi’s child, and their traditional marriage was scheduled for March 29, with the church wedding set for April 6.

Neighbors revealed that Nnamdi and Osasu had often argued, with shouting matches being a common occurrence. On the night of March 16, however, the argument escalated beyond control.

Witnesses claim that after the argument turned violent, Nnamdi killed Osasu, who was pregnant, and her three-year-old daughter Miracle.

The man then locked the bodies in the room before fleeing the scene. The gruesome discovery occurred when neighbors began to notice a foul smell emanating from the house. Concerned, a neighbor alerted the police.

Police investigation begins, suspect remains at large

Edo State Police spokesperson Moses Yamu confirmed the murder and said investigations had begun immediately.

Officers were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. on March 18, 2025, after the unpleasant odor prompted concerns from neighbors.

When the police arrived, they discovered that the room was locked from the outside and forced entry.

Inside, they found the decomposing bodies of Osasu and Miracle. Isaac’s body showed signs of violence, including a machete cut to the head.

Preliminary investigations pointed to Nnamdi, who had been living with the victims and was set to marry Osasu in just a few days.

Since the discovery, the suspect has gone into hiding, and the police have launched a manhunt to capture him.

Community reacts to the tragic incident

The community has been left shocked by the horrific murder, especially considering the couple’s imminent wedding.

Many neighbors expressed disbelief that Nnamdi, who had lived with Osasu and her daughter for several years, could commit such a violent act.

Osasu, who was affectionately known as “Mama Halleluyah,” was a beloved member of the community, and her tragic death has left a deep impact.

According to the police, the investigation is ongoing, and they are doing everything possible to locate Nnamdi.

The case highlights growing concerns about domestic violence in Nigeria, as well as the need for greater awareness and intervention to prevent such tragedies.
