  • Suleiman defends Uba Sani’s leadership over El-Rufai’s.
  • She praises Sani’s commitment to the welfare of citizens.

Hajiya Maryam Suleiman, the Kaduna State Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has distanced herself from Malam Nasir El-Rufai, calling his defection a poor political decision.

Suleiman, who was once a close ally of El-Rufai, expressed her belief that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) will fail to make any significant impact in the Nigerian political landscape, adding that she will remain with APC.

The announcement was made after the Kaduna Woman Leader apologized for her earlier critical comments about Governor Uba Sani, which led to her suspension from the party.

In an emotional interview, Suleiman admitted to speaking out of turn and regretted her earlier remarks, calling them a “childish outburst.”

“I didn’t fully understand the issues at hand when I criticized Governor Uba Sani, but after reflecting on my actions, I’ve apologized,” she said, emphasizing that she acted impulsively.

“I told him that my actions were childish and that I didn’t fully grasp the complexities involved. Also, I am a loyal party member, and I am committed to correcting my mistakes.”

Suleiman, previously known as Maryam Mai Rusau for her association with El-Rufai, now identifies as Maryam Mai Ginau, aligning herself with Governor Uba Sani’s developmental vision.

According to Vanguard, she praised Governor Sani’s leadership, calling him a compassionate and people-focused leader in stark contrast to his predecessor.

Reflecting on the El-Rufai administration, Suleiman highlighted controversial policies, such as the demolition of markets and the dismissal of primary school teachers, which she believes caused significant hardship for many citizens.

“Many people suffered, and some even lost their lives because of those decisions,” she recalled.

She continued, “In contrast, Governor Sani is a kind-hearted man who values the welfare of the people.

He is determined to uplift everyone, even those he doesn’t know. There’s a world of difference between him and the former governor.”

Suleiman also took the opportunity to underline her longstanding relationship with Governor Sani, having known him before his time as a senator.

She lauded his dedication to improving the lives of the underprivileged, explaining that Sani had always been an advocate for the welfare of the people, particularly the marginalized.

“We must all work together to ensure the growth of Kaduna State. With Uba Sani’s leadership, we are confident that this is achievable,” she added.
