The former governor declared that denial to journalists during his examination of the Independence Bridge in Lagos. During his 2014 campaign the entire expenditure remained below N100 million while he contradicted Ohiri’s report of N200 million unpaid debt.

Umahi denies owing, and demanded written documentation containing both purchase agreements and bank statements to prove the debt claims made by Mrs. Ohiri N200 million.

Mr Umahi stated that his 2014 campaign budget exceeded the dismissed allegations by a significant margin and he struggled to accept how campaign materials could cost N200 million. He demanded evidence of official documents because the claim about N200 million spent looked questionable.

The Minister added that proper paper trails should exist if the campaign expenditure was legitimate. The Minister declared his intention to take legal action for damages while refusing to minimize this issue through any means.
