Dr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice rejected Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura’s group claims about the CPC bloc’s defection position and President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 election endorsement.

The media aide of Dr. Abubakar Malami, Muhammed Bello Doka, confirmed that only the CPC bloc as led by former President Muhammadu Buhari possesses the authority to determine whether CPC plans to leave the APC.

He challenged the authority of Al-Makura and his political associates Adamu Adamu Bello Masari and Faruku Adamu Aliyu to represent the CPC bloc because these lawmakers had broken ties with Buhari.

Malami dismisses these claims that stem from personal self-interested behavior

The CPC bloc official position has no relation to these personal declarations made by the group members because their purpose is to boost their political standing within APC for their personal advantages. These political moves did not represent the official CPC bloc positions because they stemmed from individual personal wishes.

During his remarks Malami dismisses claims that he would defect to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) by stating they were unfounded. Due to his national position Malami cannot engage in clandestine political realignment. His allegiance is maintained under the APC while he continues conducting extensive consultations among various party platforms.

His aide announced the topic of defection or announcing his political interest was ahead of its time since it would be premature discussion for the present moment.

Active in politics, but no immediate defection plans

According to Malami he remains deeply involved in political activity and will use the appropriate moment to announce his position regarding the matter. He declared that his political membership rights extended to every Kebbi State position and allowed him to join any party thus demonstrating his ongoing participation in the political field.

Al-Makura group’s support for Tinubu

Al-Makura’s group made this affirmation after holding a gathering where members displayed their strong commitment to APC as well as their backing for President Tinubu. The 22 members of the former CPC published a document to refute claims of defection or discontent in CPC ranks while maintaining their dedication to APC leadership.
