An ex-girlfriend of Tolani, also known as Dian, the alleged killer of Lagos State University graduate Adijat Adisa, has revealed she ended their relationship due to his toxic behavior.
Speaking anonymously in a WhatsApp chat with Vanguard, she shared details about her past relationship with Tolani, explaining how his actions turned abusive.
She mentioned that she had been raped by him during their relationship but couldn’t speak out at the time.
The ex-girlfriend expressed her sadness after seeing the video interview with Adijat’s mother, calling for justice.
She stated that Tolani is currently not in Nigeria and remains on the run, hiding from authorities.
Despite not knowing if Tolani was responsible for Adijat’s death, she affirmed that he had exhibited toxic tendencies in their past relationship.
Alleged killer’s family background and possible internet fraud ties
A source revealed that Tolani is the son of the proprietor of Standard Children School in Iju-Ishaga, Lagos.
The source also linked Tolani to internet fraud, known locally as “Yahoo Yahoo,” suggesting that his Facebook name, “Ancestor Diane Funds,” could be an indication of his involvement in such activities.
The ex-girlfriend recalled that while Tolani was once humble, his lifestyle changed dramatically, becoming more lavish as he flaunted wealth on social media.
The deceased’s mother, Adijat’s mother, became suspicious of her daughter’s relationship with Tolani after noticing scars on her body.
She had advised her daughter to end the relationship, but Adijat continued to date him. When Adijat went missing,
Tolani claimed she had fainted at his house after a disagreement. Later, it was confirmed that Adijat had been killed, and police found charms in Tolani’s home.
Police efforts to find Tolani, suspect still at large
Lagos State Police have confirmed that Tolani is still at large. Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, acknowledged the severity of the crime but stated that they cannot arrest Tolani’s family members by proxy.
Efforts to locate and apprehend Tolani are ongoing, with authorities urging the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest.
Adijat’s mother, who had raised her daughter on her own, is calling for justice and demanding support from Nigerians.
She revealed that the police had found blood in a bucket at Tolani’s residence, further confirming her suspicion of foul play.
